Bank of Spain Raises Inflation Forecasts to 3.9 Percent
The Bank of Spain increased its inflation projections for 2026 and 2027, citing energy price developments and pressures exceeding the Eurozone average.
The Bank of Spain revised its inflation forecasts upward, projecting that inflation in Spain will reach 3.9% in 2026 and 3.7% in 2027. The 2027 estimate represents a significant increase from the previous projection of 2.6%.
Central bank officials attribute the revision primarily to energy price developments. The bank noted that the Spanish economy is facing stronger inflationary pressures than the Eurozone average, where inflation is expected to be 3% in 2026. This trend follows a surge in late September that saw inflation reach 5% across the largest Eurozone economies, including Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
Despite these rising price pressures, the Bank of Spain expects the national economy to maintain stable growth. The central bank projects GDP will grow by 2.6% in 2026 and 2.2% in 2027.
