NEAR Protocol Value Rises 233% as Top AI Cryptocurrency

NEAR Protocol has emerged as a top-performing cryptocurrency in 2026, with its value increasing by 233% this year. The growth is driven by the network's positioning as a transaction layer for AI agents, establishing the Layer-1 blockchain as a central piece of artificial intelligence narratives.

The network currently holds the title of the top AI cryptocurrency by market capitalization, valued at $6.5 billion. This valuation is nearly double that of its competitor, Bittensor. Institutional interest in the asset has increased following the launch of the Bitwise NEAR ETF.

Despite these gains, the asset remains 75% below its January 2022 all-time high and continues to exhibit high volatility since its 2020 launch. While leading in market capitalization, NEAR has been outperformed in yearly returns by the Venice Token, which rose 1,700% in 2026.
