Costco Wholesale Corp. reduced prices on a variety of goods after receiving $184 million in tariff refunds during its fourth quarter. The total included $174 million in principal and $10 million in interest, which the company reinvested into lower pricing for members across categories including produce, meat, beverages, home furnishings, and hardware.
Chief Financial Officer Gary Millerchip stated that this amount represents slightly more than one-third of the total expected refunds, noting that a similar amount was received in the first quarter. He indicated that the company intends to continue reinvesting the majority of future refunds into member value.
Chief Executive Officer Ron Vachris detailed that the price reductions occurred predominantly in the second half of the quarter. These nonrecurring items are expected to impact the company's financial results into fiscal year 2027.
