Wynn Resorts Sets September 2027 Opening for UAE Casino
Wynn Resorts will open its first UAE casino resort in September 2027 after regional conflicts increased construction costs by $600 million.
Wynn Resorts announced during its second-quarter 2026 earnings call that the Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, is now expected to open in September 2027. The opening date was pushed back from an original spring 2027 target.
CEO Craig Billings attributed the delay and a $600 million budget increase to supply chain disruptions and personnel movement following February strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. The total project cost has risen to approximately $5.7 billion, with half of the additional expenses stemming from higher insurance, shipping, and expedited materials. Despite these challenges, Billings cited the resilience of the UAE and noted that supply chains and airport operations remain normal.
The $5.7 billion development is the first licensed commercial gaming resort in the UAE. The site features a 70-story tower with 1,530 suites and villas, 22 restaurants and lounges, a luxury spa, and a deep-water marina. The project currently employs 425 people and is projected to require 3,000 staff at launch, eventually supporting over 9,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
