Searah Commences Gas Production at Indonesia's Maha Field
Searah has started gas production at the deepwater Maha field in Indonesia's Kutei Basin to supply domestic and export LNG markets.
Searah Muara Bakau, a joint venture between Eni SpA and Petroliam Nasional Bhd, has commenced gas production at the Maha field in Indonesia's Kutei Basin. Located in the West Ganal block roughly 100 kilometers offshore Balikpapan, the deepwater project utilizes two subsea production wells linked to the Jangkrik Floating Production Unit.
Production is expected to reach between 230 and 250 million standard cubic feet per day. The gas will serve Indonesia's domestic market and the Bontang liquefaction plant for both domestic and export LNG. The Maha field is a component of the South Hub development, which targets a combined production plateau of 750 million standard cubic feet per day extending beyond 2030, following the anticipated 2028 start-up of the Gendalo and Gendang projects.
In a related move, Eni signed agreements to farm out 10 percent interests in several Indonesian blocks under Searah to PT Pertamina Persero and PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. CEO Mirko Araldi stated that the delivery of the complex development demonstrates what can be achieved through shared purpose and execution.
