Bahrain Joins World Travel & Tourism Council as Destination Partner

Bahrain joined the World Travel & Tourism Council to attract international investment and increase its competitiveness against other Gulf nations.

The Government of Bahrain joined the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) as a Destination Partner to strengthen its global tourism presence and diversify its national economy. Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi announced the membership during the WTTC's 26th Global Summit in Valletta, Malta.

This strategic partnership aims to provide the Kingdom with direct access to international investors, travel industry leaders, and tourism research. Bahrain intends to leverage its cultural heritage, Formula 1 events, and proximity to the Saudi market to attract more business events and long-haul travelers. The initiative will focus on using data, technology, and artificial intelligence to modernize tourism and promote sustainability.

Officials characterized the move as a way to enhance public-private cooperation. The partnership is part of a broader effort to increase Bahrain's competitiveness against larger regional neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, while the country navigates regional security concerns and geopolitical uncertainties.
