Apple Launches iPhone Duo With Replaceable Folding Screen Cover
Apple Inc. introduced the iPhone Duo featuring a replaceable display cover layer designed to minimize screen creases and extend the longevity of the foldable device.
Apple Inc. has introduced the iPhone Duo, a foldable smartphone featuring a replaceable cover layer for its inner display to address the visible creases common in foldable screens. Kate Bergeron, the company's VP of Hardware Engineering, explained that a matte display coating minimizes the crease and that the cover layer was engineered for maximum longevity. To maintain a day one appearance, customers can peel off and replace the layer.
Under AppleCare, the cover layer replacement costs $19, while a full inner display replacement is priced at $99. The device will be available in star white and night sky colors, with storage options from 256GB to 2TB and a starting price of $1,999.
Apple will begin a Get Ready configuration process on October 12. Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo open on October 16, with general availability starting October 23.
