Tokyo Stocks Rise as Investors Anticipate Nvidia Earnings
Tokyo stocks closed higher on Wednesday as investors bought technology shares ahead of Nvidia Corp.'s earnings release and crude oil prices declined.
Tokyo stocks closed higher on Wednesday, August 26, driven by dip-buying in heavyweight technology shares. The Nikkei Stock Average rose 405.73 points, or 0.62 percent, to finish at 66,262.16, while the Topix index increased 17.35 points, or 0.42 percent, to end at 4,111.02.
Nvidia Corp. influenced the market's trajectory as investors bought back tech shares in anticipation of the company's upcoming earnings release in New York. Although the Nikkei initially traded lower, it moved into positive territory as this anticipation grew.
Market gains were further supported by a decline in crude oil futures. This price drop eased inflation concerns across various sectors following reports of improvement in the Middle East.
