Senate Leadership Fund Pledges $5 Million for Darline Graham

The Senate Leadership Fund will spend $5 million to support Republican Senator Darline Graham in a tightening South Carolina Senate race against Democrat Annie Andrews.

The Senate Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC for Senate Republicans, is injecting $5 million into television advertisements to support Darline Graham in South Carolina. The spending surge serves as an insurance policy after polls from Trafalgar and InsiderAdvantage showed Graham in a statistical tie with Democratic nominee Annie Andrews.

Graham, who was appointed to the seat in July following the death of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, has struggled with fundraising and limited press engagement. In contrast, Andrews, a pediatrician supported by the 314 Action Fund, has significantly outspent Graham, including nearly $5 million on advertisements in September alone.

During a campaign event in Georgetown County on Monday, Graham focused on affordability, workforce development, and the easing of environmental regulations to assist farmers. She explicitly opposed government-run health care, arguing it would bankrupt the country and increase national debt, though she acknowledged the necessity of Medicare and Medicaid for vulnerable populations.

Graham is competing against Andrews and Libertarian candidate Kasie Whitener, with a three-way debate scheduled for October 11. The shift in Republican funding comes as the party ceases financing ads for Michael Whatley in North Carolina, while Democrats reallocate resources based on optimism that Roy Cooper will flip that seat.
