Apple Launches HomeView Hub and AI-Powered Smart Home Suite

Apple unveiled the HomeView smart display, an updated Apple TV 4K, and the HomePod mini 2, alongside a collaborative line of smart home accessories.

During its Welcome Home event on October 13 in New York City, Apple Inc. unveiled a comprehensive expansion of its smart home ecosystem. The centerpiece is the HomeView, a $299 smart display featuring a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and A18 chip. Available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, the hub uses facial and voice recognition to provide personalized experiences for up to six users. Despite its capabilities, the HomeView will not be sold in the European Union due to regional regulatory restrictions on Siri AI.

Alongside the hub, Apple introduced the HomePod mini 2 for $149, featuring an S10 chip and a new Sound Glow lighting effect, and a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K for $299. The new Apple TV includes an A19 chip, far-field microphones for hands-free Siri AI, and a redesigned remote with Precision Finding. Apple also confirmed that Siri AI will be brought to older Apple TV 4K models via a free tvOS 27.2 software update.

To broaden its hardware reach, Apple partnered with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to launch the Apple Home Collection. This line includes video doorbells, security cameras, smart locks, and thermostats, all integrating with Apple Intelligence and iCloud+. While the HomePod mini 2 ships October 30, the HomeView and Apple TV 4K will launch November 13, with the Home Collection arriving in December. Reports indicate the HomeView launch follows a 24-month delay due to software hurdles, and the company is already developing a premium robotic version for 2027 or 2028.
