Apple Prepares New Hardware Amid CEO Transition

Apple plans to release a revamped OLED iPad mini by October and a new Mac mini as John Ternus prepares to succeed Tim Cook.

Apple Inc. is preparing a series of hardware updates, including a revamped iPad mini scheduled for release by the end of October 2026. The new tablet will transition from an LCD panel to an OLED display, which Samsung Display has already begun mass producing. Other expected upgrades include a more powerful A19 Pro or A20 processor, an improved speaker system, and a redesigned enclosure for increased water resistance.

In addition to the tablet, the company may launch a new Mac mini in the coming days, potentially preceding the September iPhone event. This model is expected to feature a newer-generation Apple silicon chip and may be produced at the company's facility in Houston.

These product developments coincide with a major leadership change at the top of the organization. John Ternus is scheduled to become the chief executive officer on September 1, succeeding Tim Cook.
