Warner Bros. Discovery Launches HBO Max Hubs in Japan
Warner Bros. Discovery will launch HBO Max in Japan on October 1 as integrated hubs within Amazon Prime Video and Hulu Japan.
Warner Bros. Discovery will launch its HBO Max streaming service in Japan on October 1, integrating the platform as hubs within Amazon Prime Video and Hulu Japan. This expansion marks a shift from a previous arrangement where HBO content was available exclusively through U-Next.
The service will feature high-profile titles such as House of the Dragon, The Penguin, and an upcoming Harry Potter series. Through its partnership with Hulu Japan, which is owned by Nippon Television, Warner Bros. Discovery will also explore the international distribution of local content from Nippon TV and Hulu Japan.
James Gibbons, president of APAC at Warner Bros. Discovery, stated that these strategic partnerships are intended to broaden the distribution of the service and capitalize on the popularity of HBO intellectual property among Japanese audiences.
