CBS Poll Shows Majority of Democrats Favor Socialism

A CBS News poll finds 58% of Democrats view socialism positively, prompting reactions from party leadership and state officials.

A CBS News poll indicates that 58% of Democrats hold a positive view of socialism, compared to 32% who view capitalism favorably. Support is most concentrated among younger members, White Democrats, and those with college degrees, with many respondents believing socialist policies would improve their personal finances. While the general American public remains net-negative on socialism, the Democratic rank-and-file shows a distinct shift in preference.

Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, has embraced Democratic Socialists as part of the Democratic Party. This inclusion occurs despite the Democratic Socialists of America maintaining a platform that calls for the abolition of the Senate, the Supreme Court, and the presidency.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear offered a different perspective during a Face the Nation appearance. He characterized socialism as a "failed experiment" but stated that the priority must remain on delivering results for the American people.
