Nothing Launches Nothing OS 5.0 Based on Android 17

Nothing has begun the general rollout of Nothing OS 5.0 for the Phone (3), introducing AI-powered app building and a redesigned interface.

Nothing has launched the general rollout of Nothing OS 5.0, a major software upgrade based on Android 17. The deployment began with the Nothing Phone (3) following a two-month open beta period, with a staggered release schedule by region.

The update introduces over 80 changes, including a redesigned home screen with transparent accents, an adaptive color system, and the Geist system typeface. Functional additions include the Essential Apps Builder for creating AI-powered mini-apps via natural language, a split control panel separating notifications from quick settings, and a dedicated Glyph Interface app for managing sounds and schedules. Other refinements include a Micrographics lock screen clock, predictive app-launch caching, and cross-ecosystem file sharing via QR codes.

Following the Phone (3) release, the company plans to update the Nothing (3A) and (4A) series in early November, the Nothing (2A) in mid-November, and the Phone (3A) Lite in late December. The Nothing (4B) and CMF Phone 2 Pro are scheduled for January 2027. Nothing confirmed that the Phone (1), Phone (2), and CMF Phone 1 have reached the end of their major software support and will not receive the version 5.0 update.
