Russian Airstrikes Kill One in Ukraine and Hit Moldova

The Military of Russia conducted a large-scale aerial assault across Ukraine on August 27, 2026, utilizing hundreds of drones and missiles. The strikes targeted critical infrastructure in the Poltava, Sumy, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, while drone debris caused injuries and damage in Kyiv and the Boryspil district.

A jet-powered drone strike on an Epicentr shopping center in the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv killed a 40-year-old man and injured five people, sparking a fire that covered more than 300 square meters. The Ukrainian Air Force reported intercepting approximately 86% of the drones, as well as seven ballistic missiles and one Oniks anti-ship missile.

During the assault, five Russian drones entered Moldovan territory, striking the Palanca and Belyaevca areas near the border. While these strikes caused physical damage, no casualties were reported in Moldova.

Ukraine responded by launching drone attacks against Russian online retail warehouses. These targets included a distribution center in Orenburg and a logistics center for Ozon in the Ural region. No casualties or damage were reported in Russia following these retaliatory strikes.
