Durham School Services and Teamsters Negotiate to Avoid Bus Strike

Duval County Public Schools notified parents on Friday of potential transportation disruptions ahead of the school year's start on Monday. The warning follows a threatened strike by 275 bus drivers represented by Teamsters Local 512.

The dispute involves Durham School Services, the provider responsible for transportation in the Mandarin and Southside areas of Jacksonville. Both the union and the service provider have stated they are continuing negotiations to secure a fair contract. Durham School Services indicated it intends to bargain in good faith to reach a deal.

Student Transportation of America, the district's other primary bus provider, is not involved in the labor dispute. The potential strike remains localized to the specific regions served by Durham School Services.
