Spokane and Lane Counties Mail Ballots for November Election

Spokane and Lane counties have begun mailing ballots for the November 3 general election, with officials urging voters to use drop boxes for timely delivery.

Election officials in Spokane County and Lane County began mailing ballots on October 15 for the general election scheduled for November 3. In Spokane County, more than 300,000 ballots were sent to voters, who may return them via the U.S. Postal Service or one of 27 official drop boxes.

Vicky Dalton, the Spokane County Auditor, advised voters to avoid using the postal service during the final week before the election to ensure ballots are received on time. Dalton also clarified that residents affected by the Spokane Complex fires may continue using their residential addresses for voting if they intend to return to those homes. Online registration in Spokane County closes October 26, while in-person registration remains available until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

In Lane County, ballots were also distributed with options for return via 25 designated 24/7 drop boxes or direct delivery to the elections office. Lane County Clerk Tommy Gong noted that staff are available to assist voters with the process. To aid in transparency, the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office is providing the BallotTrax service, which allows voters to track their ballot status and receive notifications regarding signature issues. Ballots in Lane County must be postmarked by November 3 and received by November 10 to be counted.
