Hillar Moore III won a fourth term as the East Baton Rouge District Attorney on Tuesday, securing more than 58% of the vote. He defeated Ryan Thompson, who served as his first challenger in several years.
Following the victory, Moore stated he intends to continue his current work while prioritizing new funding for his office, which he described as severely underfunded. He is currently awaiting a court date in a lawsuit against the parish for additional resources and the announcement of a Model Cities Initiative grant award from the United States Department of Justice.
Ryan Thompson conceded the election and announced he will not run in future races. However, Thompson stated he will remain at the public defender's office to continue advocating for indigent and oppressed people.
