IndiGo Increases Fuel Surcharges for Domestic and International Flights
IndiGo is raising fuel surcharges for domestic and international bookings starting October 6 due to rising aviation turbine fuel prices driven by Middle East tensions.
IndiGo will increase fuel surcharges for domestic and international flights for bookings made from 0001 hours on October 6, 2026. The airline cited volatile Aviation Turbine Fuel prices, which rose more than 14% last month to some of the highest levels in a decade, as the primary driver for the change. The price surge is attributed to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Domestic surcharges will now range from 375 rupees for routes up to 500 km to 1,300 rupees for flights exceeding 2,000 km. International charges vary by region, with SAARC routes starting at 1,000 rupees, Southeast Asia and the Middle East at 5,500 rupees, Africa at 6,000 rupees, and Europe at 10,000 rupees.
This represents the second surcharge increase since April. The airline described the adjustment as "measured" and "relatively modest" to minimize the financial burden on passengers while addressing rising operating costs.
