Spain Inflation Hits 5.0 Percent in September

Spain's annual inflation rate rose to 5.0 percent in September, marking the eighth consecutive monthly increase and the highest level since February 2023.

The National Statistics Institute of Spain reported that the annual inflation rate rose to 5.0 percent in September, up from 4.6 percent in August. This represents the eighth consecutive monthly increase and the highest inflation level the country has seen since February 2023.

Rising fuel prices and a strong summer tourism sector drove the increase. The tourism boom prevented package-holiday prices from falling as significantly as they did during the same period in 2025. This rate slightly exceeds the eurozone average of 3.2 percent recorded in August.

While the Spanish economy continues to outperform much of the eurozone, inflation remains well above the 2 percent target set by the European Central Bank. The central bank raised key interest rates earlier this month to combat such pressures across the currency bloc.
