Tencent Considers $5 Billion Bond Sale for AI Infrastructure
Tencent is weighing an offshore bond sale of up to $5 billion to fund investments in artificial intelligence and computing infrastructure.
Tencent is considering an offshore bond sale to raise up to $5 billion for investments in artificial intelligence and computing infrastructure. The potential issuance, which may occur early this month, could be denominated in US dollars and offshore yuan.
This move follows a $4.66 billion bond offering in June, the company's largest debt deal since 2020, which supported general corporate purposes and AI development. The fundraising effort aligns with a broader trend of global technology firms utilizing debt markets to finance AI infrastructure, similar to a recent $11.1 billion corporate junk-bond offering by SoftBank Group.
Tencent has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the potential sale.
