Bhopal Hosts Third BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting

The Union Ministry of Culture and the Government of Madhya Pradesh began hosting the third BRICS Culture Working Group meeting and the BRICS Culture Ministers' Meeting on August 5, 2026, in Bhopal, India. The four-day event brings together over 100 ministers and delegates from 12 member and partner countries to discuss museums, cultural industries, and heritage conservation.

Meetings are centered at Minto Hall and the Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Centre, where delegates are viewing exhibitions including Gyan Bharatam, Project Mausam, and Project Greater India. The itinerary includes bilateral discussions and cultural tours of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, the Sanchi UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Bhimbetka Rock Shelters. To accommodate the delegations, Bhopal traffic police implemented special diversions and parking arrangements.

The summit will conclude on August 8 with the adoption of the BRICS Culture Ministers' Declaration, which will establish a roadmap for future cultural cooperation. To showcase local heritage, the organizers have incorporated traditional Madhya Pradesh cuisine and cultural performances, such as Kathak and tribal fashion shows, into the program.
