Spain Inflation Rate Holds Steady at 4.9 Percent
Spain's consumer price index remained unchanged at 4.9 percent in October, according to data from the National Statistics Institute.
The National Statistics Institute reported that Spain's consumer price index remained steady at 4.9 percent in October, matching the rate recorded in September. The core inflation rate, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, also held unchanged at 3.1 percent.
Overall inflation was influenced by a sharp decline in fuel and lubricant prices for private vehicles, alongside slower price growth for food, clothing, and non-alcoholic beverages. These decreases were offset by upward pressure from rising gas and liquid fuel prices compared to the previous year. Additionally, package holiday prices declined less than they did in October 2025, contributing to the steady rate.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, used for European Union comparisons, also recorded an annual rate of 4.9 percent with a monthly variation of 0.5 percent.
