Police Arrest Two Latvians for Breaching RAF Molesworth
British counterterrorism police arrested two Latvian citizens after they breached the perimeter of RAF Molesworth, a British air base used by the United States.
British counterterrorism police arrested two Latvian citizens, aged 32 and 36, after they breached the perimeter of RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire. The arrests occurred around 2 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, following the discovery of an abandoned vehicle and a small hole in the base's perimeter fence by Ministry of Defence police.
While initially detained for trespassing, Counter Terrorism Policing London rearrested the men on suspicion of a national security offense for entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the United Kingdom. The incident follows heightened security alerts for U.S. military installations due to threats from Iran.
Investigators stated there is currently no evidence linking this breach to a separate plot targeting RAF Fairford that resulted in five arrests last week. U.S. European Command is continuing to assess the threat environment to protect its personnel and platforms.
