Saudi Arabia Reroutes 4 Million Barrels Daily via East-West Pipeline

Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman confirmed the East-West Pipeline is flowing 5.8 million barrels per day to bypass disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced that Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline is currently transporting 5.8 million barrels of oil per day to the Red Sea export terminal at Yanbu. This operational level contradicts recent reports of disruptions linked to tensions with Yemen's Houthis.

The pipeline has gained strategic importance as the US-Israeli war on Iran disrupted oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Riyadh rerouted approximately 4 million barrels per day—roughly 4% of the global oil supply—to Yanbu to ensure continued exports.

This stability follows a period of volatility in September. The facility was shut down after drone attacks on September 11, which the government of Saudi Arabia attributed to Iraqi militias. The current flow levels indicate a return to full operational capacity following those security incidents.
