Bridget Phillipson Accuses Nigel Farage of Using By-Election as Distraction

Labour Party Chair Bridget Phillipson accused Reform UK leader Nigel Farage of using a by-election victory in Clacton as political theatre to distract from a financial scandal. Phillipson demanded transparency regarding a £5 million gift Farage received from Christopher Harborne, a Thai-based cryptocurrency billionaire, questioning why the funds were not declared and their intended purpose.

The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards resumed its probe into the gift following the election. Farage maintained that the gift was not political and denied any wrongdoing. He also stated that he missed the official election count because police advised him of a credible threat against his safety.
