APC Alleges Vote-Buying as Governor Adeleke Campaigns in Osun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Osun State has condemned reports of voter intimidation and vote-buying ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The APC cited viral videos showing citizens, primarily women, receiving cash and being forced to swear religious oaths of allegiance to vote for the Accord Party. The council characterized these actions as "dastardly and crude," alleging that Ademola Adeleke is using spiritual manipulation and "voodooism" to secure support due to a poor record in office.

Governor Ademola Adeleke campaigned for his re-election on August 7, visiting the palaces of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha and the Elegboro of Ijebu Ijesha. Accompanied by his cousin, musician Davido, and leaders of the Imole Campaign Council, the governor urged residents to mobilize and defend their votes. He asserted that no force could deny voters their democratic rights and promised that security for participants was guaranteed.

During the visits, Oba Adeleke Oke of Ipetu-Ijesha expressed support for the governor's bid for a second term, citing his performance over the previous four years. Meanwhile, the APC has called on security agencies and election observers to investigate the alleged coercion of voters to ensure the election remains a contest of ideas.
