IDF Investigates Smuggling of ATVs into Gaza Strip
The Israel Defense Forces are investigating how all-terrain vehicles were smuggled through border gates into Gaza and used for public stunts in Deir al Balah.
The Israel Defense Forces are investigating the unauthorized smuggling of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) into the Gaza Strip. The vehicles entered the territory through border fence gates supervised by the military and Military Police, bypassing the official Kerem Shalom Crossing. Once inside, the ATVs were used for public stunts in Deir al Balah.
The incident has triggered sharp criticism of the Israeli Military Police's conduct within the Gaza Division. Security sources allege that border checks for military personnel and civilian contractors are insufficient, creating security gaps at the gates.
Reports indicate that some soldiers avoided performing thorough vehicle inspections. These personnel claimed their primary responsibility at the border gates was to prevent looting on the Palestinian side rather than conducting rigorous security screenings.
