Josh Riley and Michael Rulli Win Congressional Reelections
Democratic Representative Josh Riley and Republican Representative Michael Rulli secured reelection to their respective New York and Ohio congressional seats on November 3, 2026.
Democratic U.S. Representative Josh Riley won a second term representing New York's 19th Congressional District on November 3, 2026. Riley defeated Republican challenger and state Senator Peter Oberacker, securing approximately 70% of the vote with 86,920 votes to Oberacker's 34,274. Riley, a former public interest attorney, campaigned on reducing political corruption through his proposed Drain the Swamp Act, supporting dairy and apple farmers, and improving rural health care.
In Ohio, Republican U.S. Representative Michael Rulli won reelection to the 6th Congressional District, defeating Democratic challenger Elizabeth Kirtley. Unofficial results show Rulli secured 59% of the vote, winning every county in the district except for Mahoning, where he lost by roughly 7.5%. Rulli first entered the House via a special election in June 2024 and noted that his victory was positive despite the election not being a red year.
Following his win, Rulli addressed his transition to the minority party and suggested that the opposition party should stop complaining about gerrymandering. The 6th District had recently undergone redistricting to include most of Mahoning and Stark counties, as well as all of Columbiana, Jefferson, Belmont, Harrison, and Tuscarawas counties.
