Kempsford Council Addresses US Bomber Deployment at RAF Fairford

Kempsford Parish Council is holding public meetings to mitigate noise and traffic disruptions caused by a massive US bomber deployment at RAF Fairford.

The Kempsford Parish Council is organizing public meetings on July 20 and 22 to address community disruptions stemming from a massive deployment of United States bombers at RAF Fairford. This surge in activity began in March 2026 following the outbreak of the America-Iran war, marking the largest operational deployment of American bombers to Europe since World War II.

Local residents have reported significant disruptions, including increased noise levels and heavy traffic caused by an influx of aircraft spotters. While B52H bombers are currently returning to the United States, some B1-B bombers remain stationed at the base. The council noted a "clear intention to invest more in the operational capabilities" of the airbase, suggesting that activity levels may remain high.

To manage these impacts, the council is coordinating with United Kingdom and United States authorities to implement mitigation measures. Proposed actions include the installation of noise barriers and the development of response plans to better handle spikes in base activity.
