Inspector General Olatunji Rilwan Disu assured Nigerians that the police force will maintain integrity during the 2027 elections during a book launch in Port Harcourt.
Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu assured the public on Tuesday in Port Harcourt that the Nigeria Police Force will maintain professionalism and integrity during the 2027 general elections. Disu stated that the force recently held a conference with all commissioners of police and senior officers to review lessons from previous elections to improve future performance.
These remarks followed the launch of "The Origin of Women in Nigeria Police Force," a book written by Dame Stella Okuyiga. Okuyiga, a 96-year-old retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, was one of the 20 pioneer female officers to join the force in 1955. Disu pledged to distribute the text to all police training institutions to preserve institutional knowledge.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Dagogo Wokama, unveiled the book and provided a 20 million naira donation to the event.
