Georgia Voters Approve Three Statewide Constitutional Amendments
Georgia voters approved constitutional amendments to expand farmland tax protections, mandate nonpartisan probate judge elections, and create a dedicated fund for emergency 911 systems.
Voters in Georgia approved three statewide constitutional amendments during elections on Tuesday, November 4, 2026. The measures introduce changes to property tax assessments, judicial selection processes, and emergency service funding.
One amendment doubles the maximum acreage qualifying for conservation use property tax assessments, increasing the limit from 2,000 to 4,000 acres to protect family farmland. A second amendment mandates that all probate court judges be elected through nonpartisan elections.
The final amendment authorizes the Georgia General Assembly to establish a nonlapsing fund. This fund will use dedicated existing revenues exclusively for the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the state's emergency 911 systems.
