India and UK Strengthen Space and Nuclear Energy Ties

India and the United Kingdom held bilateral talks in New Delhi to expand cooperation in space technology, civil nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence.

India and the United Kingdom held bilateral talks in New Delhi between October 12 and 13, 2026, to strengthen cooperation in space, civil nuclear energy, and emerging technologies. Jitendra Singh, India's Union Minister of State, and UK Secretary of State Jonathan Reynolds led the delegations in discussions focused on expanding research partnerships and increasing industry participation.

Singh proposed increasing connectivity between approximately 800 Indian space-tech startups and their British counterparts to drive commercial innovation. The officials also addressed the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) and the integration of nuclear medicine with British life sciences expertise to meet rising energy and data-center demands. Singh highlighted India's nuclear-sector reforms under the SHANTI Act of 2025 as a means to encourage private industry participation.

Beyond energy and space, the two nations explored collaboration in artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, cyber-physical systems, and cybersecurity. The talks aimed to create closer institutional engagement and research partnerships across these high-technology sectors.
