Skydance Restructures Tech Leadership After Warner Bros. Discovery Merger
Skydance removes four top Warner Bros. Discovery executives to prioritize a tech-forward leadership structure following a $110 billion merger.
David Ellison has implemented a new product and tech leadership structure at Skydance following its $110 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. The restructuring focuses on transforming the media brand into a tech-forward business capable of competing with Silicon Valley firms.
Chief Product Officer Dane Glasgow announced in a memo that four top Warner Bros. Discovery executives—Avi Saxena, Tyler Whitworth, Dave Duvall, and Trish Collins Weedon—are leaving the company. Three of these executives will remain in advisory roles to assist with the transition. The combined entity is primarily retaining Paramount executives, including Lakshman Nathan and Carlo Joseph, to lead the tech and product organization.
To achieve his technical goals, Ellison has recruited leadership from Meta, Microsoft, Google, and General Motors. Glasgow acknowledged that a change of this scale brings questions as the organization integrates new teams and colleagues.
