BlackBerry QNX Royalty Backlog Exceeds $1.2 Billion
BlackBerry Limited announced its QNX division reached a record royalty backlog of over $1.2 billion, driven by automotive software adoption and a major design win.
BlackBerry Limited announced that its QNX division has achieved a record royalty backlog exceeding $1.2 billion. This figure represents a growth of more than 26%, or over $250 million, compared to the approximately $950 million reported at the end of fiscal year 2026.
The increase is primarily driven by strong customer adoption of the QNX Software Development Platform 8.0 and the first design win for Alloy Kore, a foundational automotive operating system. The Alloy Kore win is the largest in the history of the division, with estimated future royalties valued at more than $100 million.
Growth was further supported by design wins in general embedded markets and physical AI systems, including industrial automation, medical devices, and robotics. Company executives stated that the milestone validates a strategy to expand the company's role within high-performance compute architectures and software-defined vehicles.
