Ukraine Strikes Over 40 Russian Oil and Gas Facilities
Ukrainian forces attacked more than 40 Russian infrastructure sites, including 13 oil refineries, to disrupt military fuel supplies and degrade Russia's economic capacity to fund the war.
Ukrainian forces conducted more than 40 strikes against Russian infrastructure throughout January and February 2026. The operations specifically targeted 13 oil refineries, depots, and oil and gas facilities to undermine Russia's ability to finance the war and disrupt fuel supplies to its military.
Targeted sites included the Volgograd refinery, the Ukhta refinery in the Komi Republic, and the Ilsky and Slavyansk Eco refineries in Krasnodar Krai. Additional strikes hit Lukoil drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea, the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal, the Neftegorsk gas processing plant, and the Almetyevskaya oil treatment unit in Tatarstan. Oil depots in the Lipetsk, Belgorod, Volgograd, Penza, and Voronezh Oblasts were also hit.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine stated these attacks are part of a strategic war plan to increase Russia's budget deficit and degrade its military-economic potential. The agency emphasized the goal of depriving Russia of the economic resources necessary to sustain offensive operations.
