Hasan Piker Urges Democrats to Defend Him Against GOP

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker demanded that Democratic Party leaders defend him against Republican criticism during a livestream on Wednesday. Piker argued that the GOP is using him as a distraction from the cost-of-living crisis and asserted that he is part of the Democratic coalition regardless of whether party leadership likes it.

Piker urged establishment Democrats to dismiss the attacks as a "ridiculous conversation" and called for the party to be more honest about his image as a "dangerous, toxic radical force."

Democratic responses to the request remain divided. Candidates Abdul El-Sayed and Francesca Hong have previously campaigned with Piker in Michigan and Wisconsin. Conversely, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley stated he will not campaign with the streamer, and a former staffer for Joe Biden suggested that candidates should disavow Piker to refocus on local issues.
