U.S. Gas Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Iran Conflict

Fuel prices have reached record highs across the United States, with the average price of regular gasoline increasing by more than $1.50 since the start of the war with Iran. GasBuddy reports that American consumers are struggling with these rising costs as price trends remain volatile.

In Texas, diesel prices are approaching an all-time record. AAA Texas reports the state average for diesel is $5.93 per gallon, nearly reaching the record of $5.97 set on September 19, 2026. Regular gasoline in Texas averages $3.95 per gallon, though prices vary significantly by city, ranging from $3.95 in Tyler to $4.52 in El Paso.

Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy attributes the surge in diesel costs to the difficulty of refining oil into diesel rather than the base price of crude oil. Current crude oil prices stand at $107 per barrel for Brent Crude and $95.68 per barrel for WTI Crude. Experts warn that these elevated diesel costs will likely increase consumer prices for goods delivered by truckers.
