Yogi Adityanath Leads 10th Deepotsav Celebrations in Ayodhya
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the 10th Deepotsav festival in Ayodhya, featuring 30 lakh lamps and demands for apologies from political critics.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the 10th edition of Deepotsav in Ayodhya on November 7, 2026, commemorating the return of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lakshman from exile. The celebrations featured the lighting of over 30 lakh earthen lamps across 56 ghats along the Saryu River, a 2,100-drone show depicting the Ramayana, and cultural performances by international artists. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan served as the chief guest, joining Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel to perform the Aarti of Shri Ramlala at the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
During a speech at Ram Katha Park, Adityanath highlighted the city's transformation and the construction of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. He used the platform to criticize political opponents who opposed the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, specifically demanding that those who "opened fire on the devotees of Lord Ram" and "humiliated and lathi-charged the saints" offer an apology before visiting the city. He explicitly called for Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to express remorse to the kar sevaks and saints targeted during the movement.
Governor Anandiben Patel and Vice President Radhakrishnan credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the city's cultural rebirth and modern infrastructure. Patel noted that the development is fostering economic prosperity and employment for local families in handicrafts and hospitality. The event was supported by a security deployment of over 2,500 police officers.
