UK Councils Announce Road Closures for Utility and Water Works

Cumberland Council and City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council have scheduled temporary road closures in Branthwaite and Bradford to facilitate essential utility and water works.

Two local government authorities in the United Kingdom have announced temporary road closures to facilitate essential infrastructure maintenance. In Branthwaite, Cumberland Council will close sections of the U2128 and U2121 roads for approximately four days beginning July 31. The closure affects the U2128 between its junction with the U2121 and the B5299, as well as a 500-meter stretch of the U2121 south-west of that junction. The council will provide marked diversions for motorists, although pedestrians and cyclists may still pass through.

Separately, the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council will close a portion of Richmond Road in Bradford from the Monk Street junction to number 80 to allow for water works. The restriction is scheduled to run from 7:00 p.m. on July 20 until 6:00 p.m. on July 21, 2026. While the council expects a short duration, it noted the closure could remain in force for up to 18 months if necessary. Drivers are directed to use alternative routes including Richmond Street and Listerhills Road, while pedestrian access will be maintained.
