Election Officials Set Early Voting Dates for August Primaries

Election officials in Florida and Michigan are managing the final stages of early voting and ballot collection for August primary elections. In Lake County, Florida, Alan Hays, the Supervisor of Elections, announced that early voting for the August 18 primary will run from August 6 through August 15. Twelve locations will operate daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and include secure ballot intake stations. All mail-in ballots must be received by 7:00 PM on Election Day.

In Michigan, the statewide early in-person voting period for the August 4 primary ends August 2 for most communities. Several local jurisdictions, including Lansing and Van Buren Township, have extended their voting windows through August 3, with a 4:00 PM cutoff for e-pollbook downloads. The Michigan Department of State reported that over 1 million voters, or 14% of active registered voters, had cast ballots by July 31. State officials have recommended using secure drop boxes or clerk offices rather than mail to avoid postal delays, noting that ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on August 4.
