Samer Sinijlawi Warns of Potential Palestinian Election Delay

Palestinian reformer Samer Sinijlawi warns that November legislative elections could be postponed despite high voter preregistration and his push for a demilitarized state.

Palestinian political reformer Samer Sinijlawi warned that legislative elections scheduled for November 28, 2026, may be postponed. The upcoming vote would mark the first legislative elections in two decades, and 88% of eligible Palestinian voters have already preregistered.

Through his New Path movement, Sinijlawi advocates for a leadership transition toward women, professionals, and youth who prioritize nonviolence and a negotiated two-state solution. He proposes a Palestinian state built on four core principles: it must be democratic, developed, deradicalized, and demilitarized.

Sinijlawi argues that a demilitarized state combined with security guarantees would resolve Israeli security concerns while ensuring Palestinian self-determination. He has called on the United States, Canada, Europe, and moderate Arab nations to support moderate forces in both Israeli and Palestinian societies to shift the regional relationship from conflict to partnership.
