Imole Campaign Council Demands Release of 86 Arrested Supporters

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, has called for the immediate release of more than 86 Accord Party members and supporters allegedly arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. Campaign spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi stated that detainees, including the Secretary to the Osun State Government and Chief Orija of Esa-Oke, were held without charge and transferred to detention centers in Abuja, Keffi, and Kuje.

Council members accused the Osun State Commissioner of Police of bias and partisanship, arguing that his continued oversight of security would compromise the upcoming governorship election. They characterized the arrests as a strategy of political intimidation designed to influence voters.

The Osun State Police Command disputed these claims, asserting that only six adults were arrested based on credible intelligence. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan initially stated he was unaware of the arrests before the command issued its official count.
