Alibaba Executives and Jack Ma Buy Millions in Shares
Alibaba Group executives and founder Jack Ma purchased hundreds of millions of Hong Kong-listed shares to signal confidence in the company's artificial intelligence projects.
Alibaba Group executives and founder Jack Ma have significantly increased their holdings of the company's Hong Kong-listed shares. The buying spree follows the launch of an HK$80 billion ($10.2 billion) share sale designed to fund the company's artificial intelligence initiatives.
Chairman Joseph C. Tsai purchased 720,000 shares on Tuesday at an average price of HK$113.47 per share, an investment totaling approximately HK$82 million. Together with CEO Eddie Wu, Tsai acquired more than HK$200 million in shares over a two-day period.
State-backed media reports indicate that Jack Ma increased his holdings by more than HK$600 million. This investment is characterized as a vote of confidence in the prospects of the company's AI development.
