TTP Suicide Bombing Kills Up to 17 in Pakistan

A suicide bomber targeted a crowd outside the Kabal police station in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The blast occurred during an anti-militant rally where hundreds had gathered to protest escalating regional violence. Police personnel stopped the attacker from entering the compound, causing the explosion to detonate at the main gate.

Casualty reports vary across sources, with death tolls ranging from 7 to 17 people, including several police officers and civilians. Between 18 and 34 others were wounded and transported to hospitals in Saidu Sharif. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the bombing, with officials vowing to continue the fight against terrorism. The Pakistani military reported a significant surge in terrorism incidents since January and alleged that the TTP operates with the support of the Afghan Taliban government. The government of Afghanistan has denied these accusations. Police have since launched an operation to arrest accomplices involved in the bombing.
