Peter Obi Urges Prayers for Politicians to Stop Stealing

Peter Obi called for prayers to end political embezzlement during a church visit, prompting criticism from President Bola Tinubu's special adviser.

Presidential candidate Peter Obi identified poor leadership and the embezzlement of public funds as the primary obstacles to Nigeria's progress. Speaking during a Sunday worship service at Koinonia Global, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate argued that the country is not inherently defective but suffers from the misuse of resources by its leaders.

Obi urged the congregation to pray for all political leaders, regardless of party affiliation, asking that they cease stealing and prioritize citizen welfare. He asserted that effective leadership is the decisive factor in national progress, citing his international travels and recommending the book "Growing Apart" to illustrate how doing the right thing leads to development.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, dismissed the visit as a campaign effort to find new supporters. Bwala labeled Obi a "content creator" and an "effigy of content creation," accusing him of pushing sentiments and vitriol under the guise of spiritual discussion.
