Uzbekistan Announces Billions in Gold, Tech and Tourism Projects
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and regional officials announced several billion dollars in investments for gold mining, biotechnology, and tourism across Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is advancing a series of large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects across multiple regions. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a joint gold mining partnership with Azerbaijan in the Kitab district of the Kashkadarya region. During a review of regional development, Mirziyoyev noted that the Kashkadarya region has attracted $7 billion in foreign investment over the last five years, with total investments reaching approximately $1.6 billion. He emphasized that local residents must earn decent incomes through the deeper processing of raw materials within the region.
In the Tashkent region, Governor Zoyir Mirzayev met with the PVBLIC Foundation to discuss $1.2 billion in proposed investments. These initiatives include a $500 million biotechnology university, a $350 million onion-processing facility for sugar production, and a modern medical center in Nurafshon. These projects are part of a broader $1.55 billion grant-backed program consisting of five strategic projects across the country.
Additionally, Russian investors plan to develop a $300 million tourism complex in the Shahrisabz district. The planned facility will include a hotel, a cable car, and a ski resort as part of the nation's broader strategic transformation.
