Pratt & Whitney Secures GTF Engine Deals at Farnborough Airshow

Pratt & Whitney secured three significant agreements for its Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines during the Farnborough International Airshow on July 20 and 21, 2026. The most substantial deal involved BOC Aviation, which publicly confirmed an order for up to 220 GTF engines to power up to 110 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. While the deal was originally signed in June 2025, the company announced it as the largest order it has ever placed with the engine manufacturer.

In a separate agreement, British Airways selected GTF engines for up to 63 Airbus A320neo aircraft, consisting of 33 firm orders and 30 options. This deal includes a 12-year EngineWise Comprehensive services agreement for maintenance, with aircraft deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. The selection features the GTF Advantage, a version expected to enter service in 2026 with improved take-off thrust and time on wing.

Additionally, Jackson Square Aviation selected the GTF engine for an undisclosed number of Airbus A320neo aircraft. The lessor, which already operates 91 GTF-powered aircraft, cited fuel efficiency and noise reduction as key drivers for its fleet expansion strategy. Across all three deals, executives highlighted the GTF's role in reducing fuel consumption and noise footprints for A320neo operators.
