Met Police Impose Restrictions on National March for Palestine

The Metropolitan Police imposed strict route and timing restrictions on the National March for Palestine scheduled for October 10 in central London.

The Metropolitan Police have established strict route and timing restrictions for the National March for Palestine scheduled for October 10 in central London. Organized by the Palestine Coalition and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the protest will start at midday at the Embankment and follow a prescribed path through Westminster Bridge, York Road, Waterloo Bridge, and the Strand, ending with a rally in Whitehall that must conclude by 6:30 p.m.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Carl Galvin announced that officers will enforce Section 60AA of the Public Order Act, which permits the arrest of individuals who refuse to remove face coverings used to conceal their identity. These measures follow clashes during protests on Wednesday marking the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Police estimate between 7,000 and 10,000 attendees for the event.

Organizers of the march are demanding an immediate end to military action in Gaza, a halt to UK arms exports to Israel, and the introduction of sanctions. A counter-protest by the group Stop The Hate is also expected to take place.
