Ahold Delhaize Buys Tesco Czech and Slovak Operations

Ahold Delhaize agreed to acquire the business operations of Tesco in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for 1.2 billion euros net, or approximately $1.34 billion. The transaction carries a total enterprise value of 1.7 billion euros on a cash and debt-free basis.

The Dutch grocer intends to use the acquisition to expand its scale and strengthen its market position across central and southeastern Europe. Company leadership expects the move to generate revenue growth and operational synergies.

The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals. The companies anticipate the transaction will complete in the second half of 2027.
